Katie's dance video

Katie's been in a pre-dance/ballet class at the Westminster Rec center since last September so we've gotten several opportunities to watch her dance. In January Katie got a new instructor that she adores! Here's a short video of one of her recent performances. Katie is the smallest girl in the middle-most part of the screen.

Katie asleep with her baby doll " Billy "

On Christmas Eve Katie was given a baby doll who also came with his own stroller. That night she wanted to sleep with her new baby doll who now has been named "Billy" and the sight was too precious not to get a picture of.

Little red convertible

A cute picture of Katie playing in her little red convertible out on the deck during one of our recent 'spring-like' days.

Fun with Katie...

Here are some fun pictures from home. Doug recently watched the Daytona races and came home with t-shirts for all of us. Katie was excited to wear hers as a night shirt. One pose we've named "What's up Homie!" and the other pose is of Katie doing her ballerina turn.

Smarter than we give her credit for...

Sunday night as Doug was taking out the trash and I was cooking dinner Katie decided to become a more independent little girl and showed us she's smarter than we often give her credit for. Doug recently showed Katie that she could reach her bedroom light switch on her own if she moved her wicker stepstool to be tall enough to reach it. This was an exciting thing, so now much to her delight, she's in charge of turning off/on her bedroom light whether it's needed or not. It's also become especially fun for Katie to rapidly switch it on/off many times, our neighbors must think we have a strobe light. Well, on this evening Katie went upstairs ahead of Doug and decided to move her stepstool into Mom/Dad's bedroom to turn on the bedroom light! Doug was surprised to see her reasoning extend beyond her own bedroom and into other areas that suited what she wanted to do. Katie is certainly proving to be a surprising little 2 year old!

Reading Time

One evening I took Katie out of the bath and she told me "Momma, I need to potty." So I stood nearby waiting only to hear (with a polite raised hand) "Momma, pribacy." (privacy) I was surprised at this request so I walked to get her pajamas. When I returned I found Katie, contentedly, reading a magazine while sitting on her potty. When I asked her what she was doing she meekly said "Reading."

An evening at Barnes and Noble

Fremont, the school I teach at, recently had a fundraiser evening at Barnes and Noble, teachers were asked to spend a few minutes reading to kids. As I read to a few kids Katie decided to pretend to be a teacher. As Doug asked Katie a question she quickly turned to him and said "Shhh!"

A funny moment...

Something funny that recently happened...(we sent out this as an email, so we're sorry if you've seen it already!)

Dropping Katie off this morning, I parked the car, got out and opened the rear door to get her out. As I got inside the car I notice Katie rubbing her hands together and watch her for a second. She didn’t pause at all as I neared her so I just watched to see what she was doing. She appeared to be trying to brush or rub something off such as dirt but I could see there wasn’t anything there. After I realized she wasn’t going to stop doing whatever she was doing, I asked her, “What are you doing?”
Katie responded, “Oh nothing.”, and continued with her hands.
Puzzled I asked again, “Oh nothing? You’re doing something. What are you doing?”
Katie still at it says, “Nothing.”
I then ask, “What is on your hands?”
She then fesses up. “Boogers”
Daddy rolls his eyes and takes her out of the car seat.

Needless to say, we now carefully check her hands and Katie's started a near obsession with washing her hands.

Introducing Katie's blog

Hello!
Due to popular request from our many loved ones with whom we aren't able to see often enough there will be a Katie Hope blog. There are so many anecdotes, moments and pictures that we would enjoy sharing with our loved ones but time seems to slip by so quickly. Our families and friends will now be able to keep up to date on Miss Katie Hope and her antics. We hope you enjoy browsing over this, even if to just look at the pictures. Take care, Doug, Heather and Katie
